Plasma Surface Activation For Non Wetability Hydrophobic
Plasma process, with the right gas mixture, renders the substrate hydrophobic (non-wetting) by decreasing surface energy and increasing surface tension, such that liquids ball up on the surface of the substrate, much like water beads on a waxed automobile. Balls of liquid are easier to shed, or sheet off, or can act as a hydraulic bearing between two surfaces for enhanced lubrication.
